Psalm 60 Prayer Points:
Prayer for those suffering under God’s judgment
Dear Lord, at times we experience Your anger. ‘You have made Your people see hard things.’ ‘You have given us wine to drink that made us stagger.’ All that You say and all the times You discipline us are just, perfect, wise, and deserved. Our prayer is what the Psalmist cries, “Oh, restore us. Father, may we ‘fear You’ even if we are surrounded by those who do not. Lord, it does seem like You have ‘rejected us.’
But even in the darkest days, times of distress, You are sovereign over the nations. The nations are like a drop in the bucket to You. When You speak, You speak ‘in Your holiness.’
Yet, even as You discipline us, we turn to You for help. We seek help from the One who is rejecting us. ‘Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man!’ So, even as we endure Your discipline, we come repenting of our sins, yet expecting grace and forgiveness. We kiss the rod that strikes us. We know because the God who strikes Christ on our behalf, accepts us also on Christ’s behalf. In Jesus righteous name. Amen
