Joel 1 Prayer Points:
Prayer of Adoration: O God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, in six days you made the earth and the sea and all that is them and since that time you have provided for the needs of every creature so that a sparrow cannot fall to the ground apart from your holy will and not a single hair can fall from our heads. You are the giver of all good gifts and our eyes look to you daily for all that is good. We praise you for your wondrous works O God.
Prayer of Confession: O Father, daily we mourn over the consequences of our sin seeing how the earth continually groans because of it. Through famine and flood, earthquake and tornado, pestilence and poverty, wars and rumors of wars, we regularly see evidence of the fall and a foretaste of the judgment to come. O Christ, our king, who wore the crown of thorns upon your head in your humiliation, we thank you for bearing God’s wrath and curse in our place, and yet still we see the consequences of our sins and mourn because of them. O Holy Spirit, you too are grieved because of our many sins, not merely over the consequences of our sins but over their great offense to your holiness as well as how it hinders us from worshipping aright the God who is worthy of our praise. O Lord, help us to mourn and to lament our sins, that we might have the mind of Christ. Open our eyes to see more fully the ruin and devastation that our sins have caused that we might hate them and turn away from them.
Prayer of Sanctification: O God, draw near to us this day as we approach your holy throne with joy and gladness of heart. For you put more joy in our hearts than when grain and wine abound. Help us today to seek the greater heavenly blessings, to pant for you as the dear pants for flowing streams of water, to seek you earnestly and not to wander from your commandments. O Lord, fill our mouths with praise that we might tell our children about the works of the Lord, that our children might tell their children, and their children to tell the next generation.
