Isaiah 57 Prayer Points
Our Sovereign Lord, you inhabit eternity, with your throne high and lifted up. You dwell in the most holy place in your glorious temple in heaven, yet you also reside with those on earth who have a contrite and lowly spirit. Lord, may your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Even now, prepare the way for Christ’s return and remove every obstruction that hinders his coming.
We see that righteous men perish and the devout ones are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, and no one lays it to heart. The seed of the serpent open wide their mouths against the righteous, and the children of transgression slaughter the innocent in the streets. The hypocrites have made their beds with the Harlot of Babylon to turn the hearts of kings against your people and to blind the eyes of judges. They lie, steal, kill, and destroy, not fearing your name or remembering that you still sit on your holy throne.
But you will not always hold your peace, O Lord. Because of the iniquity of their unjust gain, you will strike them down. In your wrath, you will destroy their evil works and carry them off like the wind. Even now, the hearts of the deceitful are like the tossing of the sea, for there is no peace for the wicked.
Help us to lay these things to heart, O God: that those who have been killed for your name’s sake have been taken away from their calamity and have entered into their rest, and that those who take refuge in you shall possess the land and have a share in your glorious inheritance.
Revive our contrite and lowly spirits, O Lord. Speak peace to our hearts, heal us of our bitterness, and comfort us who mourn. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
