Isaiah 5 Prayer Points
O God, our Beloved, you have created us and redeemed us. You have provided for us and protected us. You have invested in us and given us every spiritual blessing in Christ that we might live and grow and bear good fruit. You have made all the preparations, you have given grace upon grace, and you have tenderly cared for us and carried us all the days of our lives. There is nothing more that you could have done for us than what you have accomplished. And yet instead of a bountiful harvest of good fruit, we often have produced fruit that is wild and rotten. O Lord, we deserve your righteous indignation and realize that our just wages should be death and destruction. But we plead to you the name of Christ that you might never remove our hedge of protection—that our walls might not be torn down so that our lives become worthless and wasted. O God, trim us and prune us, plucking up the briers and thorns that have choked out our faith. Command the heavens once again to rain down your mercy upon us that we might grow up into your image. For we are your holy vineyard, O Lord. We are your people who fear your name.
Woe to those who are in love with their riches, O God. And woe to those who love this world and who are drunk on the fornications of the harlot of Babylon. Woe to those who call evil ‘good,’ and good ‘evil,’— who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who do not regard the deeds of the Lord or acknowledge the work of your hands. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! For you will destroy the proud and wicked, but you will humble the righteous and bring them low for the sake of your name. O God, you are exalted in justice and you will show yourself holy in righteousness. Your law and your counsel shall surely prevail. But those who reject your law will perish. When the Lion of Judah roars everyone will quake with fear and trembling.
