Isaiah 30

Isaiah 30 Prayer Points

Oh, Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, we confess our stubbornness. Like wayward children, we so often carry out our own plans instead of seeking yours. We form alliances and seek refuge in empty things, turning to idols that cannot profit or help us. This is our shame and humiliation—to run to what is worthless and empty instead of to you, the living God. Forgive us for adding sin upon sin. We have been a rebellious people, unwilling to hear your instruction. We have told our elders, “Do not correct us,” and our teachers, “Speak smooth things to us.” We have despised your word and put our trust in our own perverseness.
Lord, may we be saved by returning to you and finding our rest in you, quietly trusting in your strength. We thank you that you wait to be gracious to your people, that you answer us as soon as we call, and that you exalt yourself to show us mercy. You are a God of justice—blessed are all who wait for you.
Though you have given us the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, we know that you continue to teach us your ways, remind us of your straight and narrow path, and help us to smash all our idols. We pray that you would pour forth your abundant blessings and bind up the brokenness of your people, healing the wounds that your discipline has inflicted.
May you cause your people to once again sing songs of praise when we look to you for help. May our hearts be glad when we turn to the Rock of our Salvation. We ask that you would cause your majestic voice to be heard and your powerful arm to be seen in our lives. In the holy name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
