Isaiah 29

Isaiah 29 Prayer Points

Eternal and sovereign God, you are the Potter, and we are the clay; you made us for your glory. Your wisdom is beyond our understanding and your ways are beyond our scrutiny. We confess that we often draw near to you with our mouths and honor you with our lips, while our hearts are far from you, and our fear of you is but a commandment taught by men. Lord, forgive us for this vanity and sin and use us as vessels of honor for the sake of your name.

We pray for your kingdom to come. Lord, raise up your siegeworks and bring low those who stand against you. Let the multitudes of your foes be like the dust and the ruthless like passing chaff. In an instant, we know you can visit the earth with thunder and earthquake, with whirlwind and tempest and a devouring fire. We pray that the multitude of those who fight against Mount Zion would be like a fleeting dream, a mere vision of the night.

O Lord, expose those who hide their counsel deep from you, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?” Cut off all who watch to do evil.

In your great mercy, open the ears of the deaf and the eyes of the blind. Let the meek obtain fresh joy in you and let the poor exult in the Holy One of Israel. We pray that your people would no longer be ashamed, but that we would sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and stand in awe of the God of Israel. May those who go astray in spirit come to understanding, and those who murmur accept instruction. We ask all of these things in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
