Exodus 24 Prayer Points

Our Father, you have dealt graciously with us though we are stubborn and slow of heart to understand and to receive your Word. You have given us your holy laws, but we are so proud and ignorant that we think that we can actually keep them if we try, not realizing that the old man in us is completely powerless and defiant to your holy will. And then when we sin against you, we think that we can do something to make it right, by some ill-conceived offering or sacrifice. But Lord, reading your Word again this morning, we are reminded of the blood of your holy covenant, that all those who do not keep your word perfectly and perpetually stand condemned before your holy throne, and so we look not to our own works and sacrifices, but to your Son Jesus who walked with you in goodness, holiness, and righteousness, and who laid down his life for us as a sacrifice for sin. Apart from our faith in Christ we could have no hope of ascending the hill of the Lord. Apart from our union with Christ, we could never please you. And apart from the Spirit of Christ working in us we, we would have no desire or ability to walk according to your laws. O Lord, we thank your for giving your law and for your giving us your Son that we love your commandments.
