Ephesians 2 Prayer Points
O God of our salvation, we give you much praise and thanksgiving for your great mercy and love. For we were dead in our sins and trespasses, walking in the futile ways of this world and following the prince of the power of the air. We were living in the passions of our flesh, carrying out every evil desire of the body and mind, and we were by nature children of wrath like the rest of mankind. But you, who are rich in mercy and great in love, loved us even when we were dead in our sins and trespasses, and you made us alive together with Christ. By your wondrous grace you have saved us, raised us up with Christ, and seated us with him in the heavenly realms so that you might show forth the immeasurable riches of your grace and kindness to the world. For it is merely by your sovereign grace that we have been saved. We have done nothing good. Our works were only evil. But you have given us freely the gift of salvation so that none of us might boast in himself or in his works.
O Lord, because we are your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, empower us this day with the desire and the ability to do good works, not to save ourselves since we have already been saved, but only to please you and to give honor to your holy name. And Father, help us to edify your church today that has been gathered from among the nations. For although we were at one time unclean, separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world, now in Christ Jesus we have been brought near to you by the blood of Christ and made a part of the body of Christ. As members of the household of God today may we, by the power of your Spirit, help to build up your house into a holy temple that you would be pleased to make your dwelling place in our midst. And may we share the peace of God with others as well telling them of your rich grace and mercy that they too might give thanks and praise to your name.
