Amos 4 Prayer Points

Prayer of Adoration: O Lord, you are the one who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth—Lord God Almighty is your name.

Prayer of Confession: Gracious Father, we are like burning sticks pulled from the fire, for your judgment rightly rested upon us until Jesus cancelled the record of debt that stood against us, nailing it to the cross. O Christ, you have saved us that we might go and sin no more. And yet we have sinned all the more and acted hypocritically boasting in our offerings when our hearts have been far from you. You have disciplined us and removed your spiritual blessings from us at times and yet we have not quickly returned to you. O Spirit, we have grieved you by our sin. Please forgive us and restore to us the peace of God, the joy of our salvation and the hope of your coming kingdom.

Prayer for the Nation: Sovereign Lord, you have sworn by your holiness that the time will surely come when you will deal with the sins of the nations. Merciful Father, you have given us an abundance of provisions and prosperity in this land and yet we have forgotten the Lord our God. On occasion you have withheld the rain and the harvest but we have not prayed to you. You have sent the pestilence upon our land and yet we did not seek you. You have allowed gunmen to enter our schools and kill our children and we have not cried out in repentance. And now many of our youth cannot distinguish good from evil. All of these evils are a sure sign that we are a foolish nation that does not fear the name of the Lord, for we have devoted ourselves to mammon and as a result have despised you. Lord, have mercy upon us and bring us to our senses. Pour out upon us a spirit of prayer and repentance that we might not be overthrown like Sodom and Gomorrah.
