Isaiah 9 Prayer Points

We praise you, O Lord of hosts, for shining your light into our darkness and gloom. When the shadow of death has loomed over us, you have given us life and hope in your Word. We pray for that light to continue to illuminate every corner of our lives, dispelling the shadows of despair, ignorance, and sin. Lord, we rejoice in your power to break the heavy yokes that burden us, to lift the heavy loads, and to shatter the oppressor’s rod. And we pray for liberation from all our bondage – from sin and fear to the general anxieties of life that so easily weigh us down. Fill our hearts, O God, with a joy like that of a harvest, and a gladness that overflows because of your help and deliverance.

Forgive us, Lord, for our pride and arrogance in turning away from your hand. Soften our stubborn spirits, we pray. Turn us back to you when we go astray, for where else can we go? You alone have the words of eternal life, and in you alone do we have hope. Do not let us be consumed by our own foolish devices and fall back into the darkness.

We thank you, our Father, for the gift of your Son Jesus, our Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. We pray for the increase of His government and peace in this world that there would be no end to it. Establish His kingdom, O Lord, with justice and righteousness, from this time forth and forevermore. Let your zeal accomplish this, transforming hearts and nations by the power of your Spirit. And may your glorious light continue to shine upon us and through us as we await the fullness of your kingdom to come.
