Psalm 106 Prayer Points
O Lord God we praise your name for you are good and your steadfast love endures forever. Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord, or declare all your praise? We bless you for keeping justice and doing righteousness at all times, for favoring your people and helping us in time of need. We rejoice in your salvation and we sing of your praise for you keep covenant with us even when we have broken our covenant with you.
O Lord we have sinned. We have committed iniquity. We have done wickedness. On many occasions we have not considered your marvelous works or waited for your counsel or remembered your steadfast love. As a result, we have rebelled against you, our sovereign king. With ungrateful hearts we have lustfully craved for those things that you have not given us and despised the good things that you have. In our foolish arrogance we have put you to the test rather than submitting to the tests that you have designed for our good. We have been envious of what our neighbors have received and challenged your wisdom and election concerning our own lot in life. Rejecting you as our maker and provider, we have made up our own gods in our hearts and looked to them for our help. Fashioning them in our own image, we have exchanged your glory for the vain things of this earth and taken the yoke of the devil upon us.
Gracious God, take pity upon us in our misery, for we have reaped what we have sown. You have given us the base desires of our hearts as a just punishment for our murmuring and complaining. Indeed we have provoked you to anger playing the whore and abhorring our faithful husband. Lord, forgive us for your name’s sake, for Jesus is our kinsman redeemer who stands in the breach for us having turned away your wrath against us. Even now he is our mediator and high priest interceding for us. O Lord, hear his prayers and accept our poor confessions. For our faith in his works are credited to us as righteousness. O Lord we have been brought low by our sin. Raise us up again in hope that you will finish what you have begun in us. You have saved us O Lord our God therefore we give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. Amen!
