Exodus 32 Prayer Points
O Lord, our Redeemer, you are our Rock and our Refuge, our God and our Guide. It is you who has given us life and salvation, you alone who has cared for us and provided for all our needs. You alone are God and there is no other besides you. How then could we turn to idols and fashion earthly gods out of our earthly blessings, since every good gift is from you hand? How could we be so foolish, so proud and evil? Our Father, you are just in your holy anger against such wickedness and rebellion. We deserve to die because of our sin. We deserve every misery that this life can afford and even worse miseries in the life to come. We have lied, O Lord. We have grumbled and complained against your holy majesty. We have questioned your goodness and accused you of evil, then offered to other gods our love and our worship. We have corrupted ourselves and turned aside quickly from the way of life and have eaten the bitter fruit of sin like sour grapes. Indeed, we have acted like a stiff-necked people, dull to your statutes and slow to repent. Father, for the sake of your own holy name, we plead your mercy. Because it is you who have brought us out of the house of bondage, and out of our slavery to sin and Satan, the world knows that your name has been placed upon us and that you have gathered us into your holy church. O God, you have promised never to blot our name out of the book of life since Christ has written our names there in his own blood. So, forgive us our sins and humble your church this day because of our transgressions. Strengthen our faith in your son Jesus. Give us a greater measure of repentance that is full of your holy hatred for sin and devoted to loving you and walking in the good works to which you’ve called us. Sanctify your people, Lord, that we might indeed be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Jesus, our great high priest has and continues to intercede for us, Lord, hear and accept his prayers since our prayers are weak and full of blight. Receive his holy offering, for ours are foul and rotten. Be pleased to draw near to us in love and mercy because your only son has loved you in our place. But Lord, give us a heart to love you as well since you have poured out your love upon us. You have saved this harlot and made her your bride, so claim your bride once again and wash us with the water of your word, we pray, in Christ’s name.
