Exodus 17 Prayer Points
Great are you O Lord and abundant in power and strength. You cover the heavens with clouds; you prepare rain for the earth; you make grass to grow on the hills. Not only in the fruitful valleys but even in the wilderness, you can turn a desert into pools of water, and a parched land into springs of water. What God is great like our God?
But oh, how quickly we forget your greatness in the midst of trials. How quickly we become embittered and complain. And how arrogantly we seek to put you to the test when it is we who are in need of testing.
Father, forgive us for quarreling with you and accusing you of evil, you who are of purer eyes than to behold evil and cannot even look at wrongdoing. Lord, our pride leads only to disgrace, so humble us that we might once again enjoy your grace and favor. Teach us to pray first rather than last, to look to heaven for wisdom rather than leaning on our own understanding, and to wait upon the Lord.
Father, gives us godly companions who can help us to hold up our hands in prayer to you when we grow weary that we might not be overwhelmed by the enemy. And help us to remember your promises and your help when we are tested the next time that we might cling to you in faith and love.
For just as you struck the rock in the wilderness to bring forth water for your people, you have stricken your only Son Jesus for our sake that we might enjoy every heavenly blessing in him. For you who did not spare your own son, but gave him up for us all, how will you not also, along with him, give us all things?
