Exodus 13

Exodus 13 Prayer Points

O Father, we praise you that you are a covenant-keeping God, that you never break your word to us and that you always keep your promises. Just as you led your people Israel out of Egypt into their Promised Land, so you have promised to lead us out of this world of sin and misery into our eternal home. Just as you guided them, protected them, and provided for all their needs in the wilderness, so you have promised to be our guide, our shelter and our help in time of need. O Lord, go before us this day as you went before Israel in a pillar of cloud by day and led them according to your holy will. And shine your light upon us this night as you led your people in the desert in a pillar of fire. Give us, this day, our daily bread as you provided Israel manna from heaven and sustained them in a desolate land.

O Christ, each of us is consecrated to your service, for we all have been redeemed by your blood. We all have been bought with a price, and we all belong to you, soul and body. As we meditate on your holy word today, may the law and the gospel be continually in our mouths. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, we pray. Because you know our weakness, O Lord, do not lead us down a path that might cause us to want to return to our bondage in Egypt, but keep us safe as we sojourn in this wilderness, we pray.

O Holy Spirit, you are our comfort and our strength, equip us today to do battle against the authorities, the cosmic powers, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. We cannot see our enemy, but we are not unaware of his schemes. Prepare us, O Lord, to take our stand and to be ready to fight as we wander through this wilderness longing for our heavenly home.
