1 Peter 3

1 Peter 3 Prayer Points

Prayer of Invocation
Our father, your eyes are always upon the righteous, and your ears are always open to their prayer, so we come before your boldly this morning in the name of Jesus Christ the righteous who suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us before you. Even now he is at your right hand with all the angels, authorities and powers having been subjected to him, and we too are in subjection to him honoring Christ the Lord as holy in our hearts. We draw near to your holy throne and offer to you our prayers and petitions.

Prayer for Husbands and Wives
Father, we pray for Christian husbands in our congregation that they would live with their wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs together of the grace of life, and so that their prayers may not be hindered. We pray also for Christian wives in our church that they would be subject to their own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see their respectful and pure conduct. May the adorning of these holy women who hope in God not focus on mere externals such as the braiding of hair, the wearing of jewelry or fine clothes, but on the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in your sight.

Prayer for the Church
O Lord, so fill our church with your Holy Spirit that we would have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind that we might know how to love one another and to love our neighbor as ourself.

Prayer in suffering/persecution
Lord, help us to remember that those who suffer for righteousness’ sake will be blessed, so let us not become discouraged or angry when others speak evil of us. May we not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, may we bless, for to this we have been called, that we might obtain a blessing. Lord, keep our tongues from evil and help us to do good to our enemies that we might seek peace and pursue it. May we not fear those who persecute us, nor be troubled, but trust in the Lord our keeper, being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks us for a reason for the hope that is in us. May we do this with gentleness and respect having a good conscience, so that, when we are slandered, those who revile our good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
