2 Timothy 3

2 Timothy 3 Prayer Points:

Prayer for Sanctification: Our Lord, you have said that in these last days there will come times of difficulty while evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. Father, help us to endure these evil days. You have said that many people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. As you have commanded, O Lord, may we avoid such people that we might not be corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. Father, there are even some who sneak into the church who have the appearance of godliness but deny its power, who have been led astray by various passions, always learning but never able to arrive at the knowledge of the truth. May we not be led astray by their wanderings but speak the truth to them in love. O Lord, your Word is truth. Sanctify us in the truth.

Prayer for Church Leaders: Lord, we pray particularly for those who teach your Word to us and who seek to watch over us in love that you would keep them in your Word that we might continue to follow their teaching, their conduct, their aim in life, their faith, their patience, their love, their steadfastness, their sufferings and even their persecutions. You have taught us that all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, so father help them and us to live that godly life and to share with Christ in his sufferings.

Prayer for Scripture Reading: Father, help us to read and to meditate upon your Word daily, remembering that all Scripture is inspired and profitable for us that we might be equipped for every good work. So we pray that as we read, you would teach us, reprove us, correct us, and train us in righteousness that we might live for your glory.

Prayer for Children/Grandchildren: Father, we pray not only for ourselves but also for our children and grandchildren that they might continue in what they have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom they have learned it and how from childhood they have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make them wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Lord, give them an understanding of your Word that they might know Christ and live for him.
