2 Peter 3

2 Peter 3 Prayer Points

Almighty God, Maker of Heaven and Earth, in the beginning you formed the earth out of water by the Word of your mouth, and later destroyed the earth by that same water. And now, by that same Word, the heavens and earth are being stored up for fire, kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. Lord, there are many people in the world today who do not believe in you, and who scoff at your revelations, your promises and your prophecies. They deny that you are the Creator of all things, that you destroyed the world by a flood, and that you are coming in judgment upon the world. They mock your holy people and blaspheme the name of Christ. But they do not know you and your ways. They do not know how patient and good and just you really are. They do not know that you always keep your promises, and just how slow you are to anger and wrath. For our sake, O Lord, you are patient, not wishing that any of us should perish but that all your chosen people should reach repentance. But indeed, the Day of the Lord will most certainly come, just as you have promised, and it will come like a thief in the night, burning all the earth with your hot indignation against sin and wickedness, and everything will exposed. O Lord, may your kingdom come and may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Our Father, in light of this great and sobering revelation, help us to live lives of holiness and godliness with no fear of exposure as we await and hasten that day of judgment, in order that you might usher in the new heavens and earth and your kingdom where righteousness forever dwells and reigns through Christ Jesus. O Lord, may we be found without spot or blemish and at peace on that day. May none of us be lead astray by the mockers and the lawless fools who undermine your Word and thus lose our own stability and assurance of salvation. Lord, fill us with your Spirit that we might grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to whom be glory both now and for all eternity, Amen.
