Lamentations 1

Lamentations 1 Prayer Points

Merciful Father, we stretch out our hands to you in prayer, for we are poor, needy and afflicted by our sin. Our hearts are wrung within us because we have been rebellious and have bitterly tasted the wages of our transgressions. Lord, we are lonely, for all our lovers have deceived us and left us without any help or comfort. And now we are afflicted and harassed by the enemy who mocks us in our sin and shame. Oh, Jesus, Lover of our souls, we took no account of our ways and gave not thought to our future. We have run headlong into iniquity and have played the fool, and now our fall is terrible. We have acted like we were gods not realizing that we were selling ourselves back into slavery allowing the devil to plunder all our precious possessions. O Christ, we despise ourselves for forsaking you, our bridegroom, our Lord and King. You are in the right and we are in the wrong, for we have rebelled against your holy word. O Lord, have mercy upon us, for you have promised not to deal with us according to our transgressions but according to your steadfast love. O Holy Spirit, revive our hearts for we are faint. Pour your heavenly fire into our souls to hate both the stench and the offense of our sin, and to cherish the sweet fellowship of Christ. Lord, help us to remember all the precious things that we forfeit in the foolish pursuit of sin, and turn our feet back to the straight and narrow path to walk in your wisdom and power, we pray, in Jesus’ name.
