1 Timothy 6

1 Timothy 6 Prayer Points

Prayer of Adoration: Blessed are you, O Lord God, the only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To you be honor and eternal dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving: Father, we thank you for our food and clothing and for providing for all our needs. Help us this day not to be anxious about what we will eat or drink or what we will wear, for the Gentiles seek after all these things, but you know all our needs and have promised to provide for them. Instead, Lord help us to seek first the kingdom of God and your righteousness, to pursue godliness with contentment, remembering that we brought nothing into this world and that we can take nothing out of it.

Prayer of Sanctification: Lord, help us all to fight the good fight of the faith taking hold of the eternal life to which we have been called. May we keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus at the appointed time.

Prayers for Pastors: Lord, help our pastors this week to guard the good deposit of truth entrusted to them, to avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of false teachers who have swerved from the faith, and to stand against any doctrine that does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and does not accord with godliness. Father, protect our church from men who are puffed up with conceit who understand nothing, who have an unhealthy craving for controversy and quarrels about words that produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction.

Prayer for the Rich: Lord, we pray particularly for those who are wealthy in our congregation that they would not be haughty because of their possessions, nor set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on you, O God, who richly provides us all with everything to enjoy. Father, move them to do good to their neighbors and particularly to the body of Christ, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share thus storing up treasure for themselves in heaven, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

Prayer for the Poor: Father, we pray also for those who do not have as much as they would like and who desire to be rich, that you would bring them to their senses that they might not fall into temptation through many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. Lord, destroy the stronghold of love for money, for it is a root of all kinds of evil causing many to wander away from the faith and to pierce themselves with many pangs through this insatiable craving.

Prayer for Employees: Father, we pray for all of us who labor on a daily basis that we would be content with the work that you’ve us and enjoy a good measure of our labor. We pray also for our employers as those who are under a yoke of service to them that we might regard them as worthy of all honor, so that your name and teaching may not be reviled. And may those of us who have believing employers not disrespect them on the ground that they are brothers; rather, let us serve them all the better since those who benefit by our good service are believers and beloved.
