1 Timothy 1

1 Timothy 1 Prayer Points

Prayer of Adoration and Thanksgiving:
O God our Savior and Christ Jesus our hope, you are the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God. To you belong honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. And we give you thanks daily for your overflowing love, grace, mercy and peace to your people and for giving us strength to serve in your kingdom, appointing us to your holy service though formerly we were enemies to the cross of Christ.

Prayer of Confession:
Lord, we know that the law itself is good, but we are evil. And we understand that the law was laid down not for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for men who practice homosexuality, for enslavers, liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine. And thus, the law was laid down for us particularly. Father, by your grace we now love your law, for it points out our sin and exposes our evil hearts that we might repent and grow in our faith. So we pray that you would use your law this day to condemn our evil works and to judge our base desires driving us once again to find our refuge in Jesus Christ your son. And we freely confess our sins to you knowing that Jesus Christ came to save sinners, of whom we are the worst. And we ask for your mercy in order that Jesus might display his perfect patience to sinners as an example to those will believe in him for eternal life.

Prayer for the Church:
Father, we love your church and earnestly desire its health, so we pray that our pastors would preach the gospel they have been entrusted with, not teaching any false doctrine, nor devoting themselves to myths and other fruitless topics, which promote speculations rather than faith. And give your people a sincere faith to believe your word, and a love that issues from a pure heart and good conscience. Let none of us swerve from these things, wandering away into vain discussions or false assertions making shipwreck of our faith. But empower and encourage us to wage the good warfare, holding onto to our faith and a good conscience, in Jesus name we pray.
