1 Peter 1 Prayer Points

Prayer of Praise/Thanksgiving
We bless you, our God, and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for according to your great mercy, you have caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for us. It is by your power that we are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time, and in this we rejoice.

Prayer During Trials
Father, though we have been grieved for a little while by various trials, we know that the tested genuineness of our faith, which is more precious than gold tested by fire, may be found to result in your praise, glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Though we have not seen him, we love him. Though we do not now see him, we believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of our faith, the salvation of our souls.

Prayer of Sanctification
Lord, help us to prepare our minds for action, and to be sober-minded, that we might set our hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, may we not be conformed to the passions of our former ignorance, but as you who have called us are holy, may we also be holy in all our conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” And as we call upon you as our father and judge, may we conduct ourselves with fear throughout the time of our exile, knowing that we were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from our forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. And having purified our souls by our obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, may we love one another earnestly from a pure heart.

Prayer for Reading God’s Word
Father, we give you thanks that our salvation has come through the living and abiding word of God; and that our ongoing sanctification is also dependent upon your Holy word, so help us to remember as we read your word that “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
